April Sather

April Sather

Founding Member

April Sather is currently the Chief Information Security Officer at the UC Office of the President. She is a founding member of Women in Technology at UCI.

In her role as Assistant Chief Information Security Officer at the University of California, Irvine, April partnered with the CISO and security team to develop and deliver a comprehensive information security strategy. Her mandate also included the development, implementation, and evaluation of campus-wide cybersecurity risk management processes and policies.

April has over a decade’s experience leading cybersecurity, enterprise transformation initiatives, post-merger integration, and data governance functions. She has an informed perspective on what matters most in enterprise IT, effectively delivering both innovation and operational excellence. Prior to joining UCI, April was Chief Information Security Officer and Director, Innovation, Architecture, and Security Services at Pacific Blue Cross. Earlier roles include positions at Deloitte, Sun, Computer Sciences Corporation, and First West Credit Union.

April earned her MBA from the University of California, Irvine, and Bachelor of Information Technology & Commerce from Bond University, Australia. April is a Certified Information Security Professional (CISSP), Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), and a Lean Blackbelt. April is also a CPRI Fellow at the University of California Irvine’s Cybersecurity Policy and Research Institute.
